In the film the Blind Side, blacks and whites are stereotyped. There are two sides of town in the film the side where Big Mike came from (the projects) and there is the side where he now lives with the Tuohy family. Mrs. Tuohy takes Mike into her family and takes care of him despite what her high society white friends think. The friends stereotype Mike and where he came from. They see him as part of the society that does drugs, steals, and commits crimes. In the beginning of the film Mrs. Tuohy kind of has this attitude like her friends. She then gets to know Mike and sees he is not like what people think he is like.
Some people in the film feel the Tuohy’s took Mike in because they were trying to get him to play football at their school, Ole Miss. This is a stereotype in the film, because they are stereotyping the Tuohy family. They say they took in Mike to make him a football star and then have him go to their school, Ole Miss. But the Tuohy family took in Mike because he had no place to go, not because they wanted to make him a football star.
